BDO, the world's fifth largest accountancy network, announced on 1 October 2009 that all its member firms in 110 countries world wide are adopting a single global trading name.
BDO in South Africa will adopt the new trading name from 1 January 2010, when it will change its name from BDO South Africa to simply BDO.
Jeremy Newman, CEO of BDO International said: "This is a very exciting change for BDO and is the culmination of many years of strategic and operational investment and engagement. It confirms our position as a leading global audit network."
John Spencer, CEO of BDO in South Africa said "Our move to the single name, BDO, demonstrates our commitment to service our clients and to compete successfully in South Africa, but on a multinational basis. By working together closely with other firms across the network, we can optimise our service delivery to our clients, wherever they are in the world."
Approximately 20% of BDO Member Firms are making the change from 1 October; the remainder will complete the transition to the single global trading name by 1 January 2010.
Jeremy Newman comments: "What matters to our clients matters to us. Our clients expect the best possible professional advice and the highest quality service and the transition to a single global trading name underlines our commitment to deliver this to our clients nationally and internationally."
