BDO Member Firms receive recognition throughout the world for consistently challenging the market model and excelling in what they do – often outside the pure accountancy arena. BDO recognises that client satisfaction, an attractive employment proposition and service innovation are as important as our auditing and tax offering, and are recognised for that approach.
Some examples of these accolades are listed below:
BDO's extensive knowledge of the local Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality sector in Australia was showcased by their involvement as the official accountants and advisers to participants across the country in a high-rating reality television show, My Restaurant Rules. Contestants had to set up a restaurant in their local market and the winner was awarded the right to continue as a going concern. Only an accountancy firm with local knowledge and proximity to their clients would be able to partner them for such success.
One of BDO Dunwoody's partners, Keith Farlinger, is the President and Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ontario (ICAO), which is a national body which sets and enforces the highest of professional and ethical standards as well as helping the accountancy market enhance its capabilities for the benefit of clients. This recognises BDO's strength in the Canadian market as a clear leader in its beliefs and actions taken in the area of quality, governance and transparency in the wake of accountancy scandals earlier this decade.
BDO Shanghai Zhonghua's senior partner, Sun Yong, was recognized as the Most Outstanding Certified Public Accountant in 2005. This recognizes his efforts in enhancing the ethics, standards, image and development of accountancy in China.
The British Association of Communications in Business (CiB) awarded BDO International's Switch the Network On campaign an Award of Excellence in November 2006. The judges described it as ‘one of the stars' of the 2006 competition in the Strategy Awards category of the CiB Communication Excellence Awards.
The BDO brand strategy developed by the BDO GCO's business development and brand marketing team, with the assistance of consultants Landor Associates, was also a finalist for the CiB Gold Award.
BDO Simpson Xavier is recognised as one of the country's best employers, being listed in the 50 Best Companies to Work For, compiled by the world wide Great Place to Work Institute. They are also the largest accountancy firm to be awarded the FAS Excellence through People award, recognizing their excellence in employee communications and their short- and long-term training and development.
BDO's knowledge and reputation of its commitment to governance, transparency and quality of service provision has seen the Managing Partner of our Lebanese Member Firm, Gerard Zovighian, elected to a number of committees which oversee such interests and pursue their prevalence in the local market.
Gerard is a member of the Higher National Accounting Committee which is an independent body advising the Ministry of Finance on tax and accounting matters, Vice Chairman of the Lebanese Transparency Association, and a Board Member of Transparency International in Berlin. This last achievement is particularly remarkable as this is the first time since the Association's inception that Arab states have had representation.
BDO Numerica in Poland has received several accolades in the last couple of years: it was placed first for the sixth year running among the auditors of listed companies in a ranking prepared by Rzeczpospolita, Poland's leading economic daily. It was also placed first in a ranking by Gazeta Gie³dy PARKIET of auditors preparing public offerings of companies introduced to the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Finally, in a poll conducted among the readers of the economic monthly Home & Market, BDO was recognised as Poland's best auditing firm.
BDO Balance-Audit is an official Ukrainian Financial Olympus laureate and was recognized by the Ukrainian Union of Auditors and the National Expert and Information Service for its ‘high quality of national audit' and for ‘creating a positive image of a national audit company at a world wide level'.
BDO Stoy Hayward has won the 2007 Employer of the Year prize at the Accountancy Age awards. The accolade gives the firm its fourth straight year of triumph at the prestigious Accountancy Age event. In 2004, BDO Stoy Hayward was named Employer of the Year, a feat which it repeated in 2005 as well as winning the Large Firm of the Year prize.
