IFRS IN PRACTICE 2018 - IFRS 9 Financial Instruments
24 May 2018
BDO has compiled a detailed summary of IFRS 9 Financial Instruments1 (IFRS 9). It was developed by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to replace IAS 39 Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement (IAS 39). The IASB completed IFRS 9 in July 2014, by publishing a final standard which incorporates the requirements of all three phases of the financial instruments projects, being: – Classification and Measurement; – Impairment; and Hedge Accounting. The IAS 39 requirements related to recognition and derecognition were carried forward unchanged to IFRS 9. This IFRS in Practice sets out practical guidance and examples about the application of key aspects of IFRS 9.
