Cobie van Antwerpen has close to 20 years’ practical experience in the Public Sector and a director in Risk Advisory Services within BDO. Having been appointed as a Chief Financial Officer of a Provincial Department in Gauteng for a period of more than three years, she grown into a sector expert specifically related to finance, budget and supply chain management. Her experience as Chief Director Financial Management and Director: Risk Management assisted in developing her in-depth knowledge and understanding of the public sector.

Cobie has extensive experience in advising and auditing National and Provincial Departments, Schedule 3 A, B, C and D Public Entities as well as Constitutional Institutions. Cobie works across various industries within the public sector, in which she has developed specialist skills. This include, but are not limited to environmental affairs, including conservation, biodiversity, cultural heritage, tourism, education and health. She also has experience in not-for-profit companies through internal audit and consulting activities where she had supported her clients to re-establish processes to ensure donor funding is used in line with the pre-scripts.

She actively supports her broad range of public sector clients in various aspects of their governance and compliance frameworks, this includes process redesign and actively enhancing control frameworks.

Cobie is part of the Global Public Sector Group and participates in the forum as the South African representative.
