Experience and Expertise

Serena is an audit partner with over 35 years’ experience in a variety of industries.

She completed her articles and worked at a large audit firm for thirteen years. During this period, she gained invaluable exposure to clients in a broad spectrum of industries including life and non-life insurance, banking, retail, construction and manufacturing.

Serena joined Grant Thornton in January 1997 and was admitted as a partner in September 1997. She was the chairperson of the firm’s Group Governance Board and was also a member of the Audit division’s management committee which managed the audit practice. She continued her role as engagement partner through the acquisition of the Grant Thornton practice by BDO in December 2018.

Serena has experience in both listed and privately held entities. Her industry experience covers manufacturing, FMCG, healthcare, life and non-life insurance and retailers.

Serena is the consumer goods sector head in South Africa. She is a firm believer in delivering exceptional service to her clients.
