Cyber Lab: GDPR
In 2016 the European Union (EU) ratified the general data protection regulation (GDPR)) which provides An update to the earlier European Union data privacy directive issued in 1995. The GDPR comes into full effect in May 2018 and is relevant not only to rganisations based in the EU but also organisations Trading in the EU or processing the personal information of EU citizens anywhere in the world. “The aim of the GDPR is to protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches in an increasingly Data-driven world that is vastly different from the time in which the 1995 directive was established. Although the key principles of data privacy still hold true to the previous directive, many changes Have been proposed to the regulatory policies” (www.eugdpr.org).
