24 voices. Different experiences. One important conversation about what it means to give, lead and create opportunity for others.

This Women’s Month, BDO South Africa brings together 24 voices from across our organisation in #GiveToGain: When we give, we all gain, our 2026 Women’s Month publication.

Seventy years after more than 20,000 women marched to the Union Buildings, the publication reflects on the doors that were opened by the women who came before us and asks an important question: what are we doing with the access, opportunity and influence we have today?

Through personal perspectives on leadership, ambition, sponsorship, courage, family, bias, recognition and authority, our contributors explore what it takes to create meaningful opportunities for others.

They consider the difference between mentoring and actively sponsoring someone. Between holding a leadership position and having genuine authority. Between celebrating women’s resilience and questioning why so much resilience is still required.

At the heart of the publication is BDO’s global #GiveToGain theme: the idea that what we know, the opportunities we have and the influence we hold become more valuable when we use them to help others grow.

It can mean sharing knowledge that took years to build. Speaking someone’s name in a room they have not yet entered. Putting your credibility behind another person. Giving someone the opportunity to lead. Or simply opening a door and then making it wider for those who follow.

As we mark 70 years since the historic Women’s March of 1956, #GiveToGain invites us to think not only about how far we have come, but about the role each of us can play in what comes next.

What we gain matters. What we do with it matters more.
