Matthew Lindsay

Matthew is a Director in BDO’s Financial Services division with over 13 years of experience, specialising in the insurance and medical scheme sector as well as a variety of financial service specific clients’ including asset management, private equity, retail investment funds, group audits, pension funds and fund administration. He is responsible for overseeing and managing key external audit client accounts within the insurance sector.  Matthew's insurance sector focus has afforded him a well-grounded understanding of IFRS17 and related insurance audit implications. Additionally, he is part of BDO’s Specialised Valuations and Credit Group (SVCG) which specialises in the valuation of fixed income and derivative financial instruments, as well as hedge accounting, credit pricing, treasury processes and market risk. Matthew is a founding member of BDO's financial services division and the Specialised Valuations and Credit Group (SVCG).

Group /Multinational audit experience

Matthew has extensive experience working on large group audits, both at BDO as well as prior experience at a big 4 audit firm. Matthew has worked on international groups as well as locally listed groups. He has played the group engagement lead role which included collaborating with external audit firms to achieve a common deadline and external audit result. This further included aligning on audit approaches, overseeing progress milestones, performing cross reviews of work, agreeing on technical matters and reporting to the audit committee.
