David is a Senior Audit Manager within BDO’s Financial Services division with over seven years of experience specialising in the insurance, medical scheme, and pension fund sectors. He is responsible for overseeing and managing key external audit engagements within the financial services industry, with a particular focus on insurance entities and medical schemes. is committed to delivering high-quality audit services, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring engagements are completed in accordance with professional standards and agreed timelines.

David’s experience in the insurance and medical scheme sectors has provided him with a strong understanding of complex accounting, regulatory, and reporting requirements, including the audit implications of IFRS 17 and industry specific regulations applicable to insurers and medical schemes. 

In addition to his external audit role, forms part of the management team of BDO’s Specialised Valuations and Credit Group (SVCG), which specialises in the valuation of fixed income and derivative financial instruments, hedge accounting, credit pricing, and the assessment of credit risk. Through this role, he has developed extensive expertise in the measurement and evaluation of credit risk and its impact on financial reporting and valuation processes.

has extensive multinational group audit experience, having led the coordination of complex audits across multiple jurisdictions and component teams. He was responsible for aligning audit strategies, driving a consistent risk-based approach across the group, overseeing responses to significant risks and areas of judgement and estimation, and coordinating component auditor delivery. Through proactive stakeholder engagement, cross reviews and effective milestone management, he helped ensure seamless group audit execution.
