Hugo is a Junior Audit Manager in BDO’s Financial Services division, specialising in the insurance, pension fund and medical scheme sectors. As a CA(SA), he is responsible for overseeing and managing key external audit engagements for a diverse portfolio of financial services clients, including Two Mountains, Infiniti Insurance Limited, the Government Employees Pension Fund, The Federated and Mutual Assurance Association Company, Kganya Insurance Administrators, Muruo Life, Medihelp Medical Scheme, Efficient Group, and Differential Capital.

His extensive focus on the insurance and medical scheme sectors has afforded him a well-grounded understanding of complex accounting, regulatory, and reporting requirements, particularly the technical audit implications and measurement models associated with IFRS 17. Throughout his engagements, he maintains a strong commitment to delivering high-quality assurance services, executing rigorous methodologies, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations.

In addition to his external audit role, Hugo forms part of BDO’s Specialised Valuations and Credit Group (SVCG). He brings strong technical and academic rigour to his engagements, having previously served as an Academic Trainee at the University of Johannesburg, and is currently expanding his valuation expertise through a Master's degree in Financial Management focused on relative valuation multiples across JSE sectors.
