Kevin has over 16 years of actuarial experience predominantly in the South African short-term insurance and reinsurance industry with a range of audit, consulting and corporate experience. He has also provided actuarial services for some other African markets. Kevin has been involved in providing traditional actuarial services relating to financial (including IFRS 17) and regulatory reporting throughout his career so far. He has specialised in insurance and reinsurance capital management as well as technical actuarial reserving across all three lines of defense by leading several first line actuarial reserve valuations, supporting the delivery of Head of Actuarial Function related reviews as well as performing several external audit reviews.

Kevin holds a Practicing Certificate qualifying him to be appointed as the Head of the Actuarial Function (HAF) of an insurer licensed to write non-life insurance business in South Africa. He is currently the HAF at a prominent South African Insurer.

Kevin’s business, consulting and softer skills have developed throughout his career. He has learnt to tailor his messaging when dealing with various stakeholders including senior management as well as Actuarial, Audit, Risk and Board Committees.

Group / Multinational audit experience

Previously employed at Hannover Re South Africa, Kevin focused on leading a team that provides actuarial services to the P&C (or non-life) reinsurance side of the business. This involved working closely with business stakeholders as well as being involved with various teams across the organisation. 

Prior to that, Kevin was a Senior Manager at EY where he managed several engagement teams which provided various actuarial services to a range of clients. He also was also responsible for managing and overseeing the reserving function at Old Mutual Insure, which involved engaging with various Southern African entities. Kevin began his career at Deloitte where he assisted with providing actuarial services to a variety of clients relating to short-term insurance matters, in South Africa and abroad.
