Justin Roberts

Justin is a Partner within BDO South Africa's Financial Services Advisory practice and leads the firm's financial services technology risk assurance capability. He has more than 14 years of experience across external IT audit support, technology risk assurance and advisory, covering banking, insurance, asset and investment management, retirement funds, medical schemes, payments and digital assets. His experience includes IT general controls, application and automated controls, system-generated reports, data analytics and full-population testing, data migrations, service-organisation assurance and emerging technology. Justin has led and supported technology audit workstreams for some of South Africa's largest financial institutions and has responsibility for engagement quality, risk management, client relationships and the delivery of a significant portfolio of financial-services IT audit assignments.

Group / Multinational audit experience

Justin has extensive experience supporting large group and multinational audits, coordinating technology audit procedures across complex financial-services environments, multiple systems and geographically dispersed teams. His international experience includes assignments across Africa, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and the United States. He completed an assignment through the European Central Bank involving technology-risk reviews at Banco Santander in Madrid and Santander UK in London, as well as two secondments to KPMG Australia. He has also worked collaboratively with BDO member firms internationally on complex technology and digital-assets engagements. His experience includes coordinating IT general controls, application controls, data analytics, system-generated information and technology risks with financial statement audit teams and component stakeholders.
