Talent recruitment plays an integral role for any business which is looking to grow. The people you employ make the business what it is, they add to the culture, service delivered and productivity. Essentially employees are the custodians of the brand and what it stands for. BDO South Africa has appointed new talent to add to their vibrant team of experts.
The Tax and Audit teams will now be joined by Marcus Botha as the Head of Corporate Tax Consulting and Sergio Vittone as an Associate Audit Director.
These two new staff bring a diverse skills set with a solution-driven attitude to serve clients and move the company into new frontiers. Marcus Botha joins BDO South Africa from PWC, where he served as the South African leader of Tax Reporting & Strategy for over six years. He previously headed Tax Risk at Nedbank and has extensive experience in tax strategy, tax related internal audit, governance and enterprise risk management. Marcus specialises in providing internal assurance on tax risk to audit committees, boards and management teams and has assisted various clients with the mitigation of tax risk, assessing the design and effectiveness of internal tax controls, providing assurance to both internal and external stakeholder groups. Marcus also spent some time at Ernst and Young in New York. In addition, Marcus is a guest lecturer at the Universities of Pretoria and the Witwatersrand where he lectures on Tax Risk Management as part of the Tax Honours and Masters programmes. He is also an external assessor at the University of Johannesburg on their Tax Masters programme. Marcus holds a BCom(Acc), BCom(Hons)(Acc), MCom(Tax) and is a DCom Candidate at University of Johannesburg.
Sergio Vittone joins BDO as an Associate Audit Director after three years at the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) where he served as a Senior Inspector. He previously worked at Ernst and Young as an Audit Supervisor followed by Wailey-Smith Dante Sinclair and then Kwalata, Chartered Accountants, where he was an Audit Partner at both. At IRBA his role included the inspections of Firms to ensure compliance with all aspects of International Standard on Quality Control (ISQC) 1 for both the Big Four Audit Firms as well as the Small to Medium Size Audit Firms; inspections of Registered Auditors to ensure compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) as well as the accounting standards (International Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards). Sergio is a CA(SA) and holds a BCom, BCom(Hons)(Acc), he is also a registered Auditor, registered Assessor and Tax practitioner.
