Anton joined the firm in November 1996, as Tax Manager and was appointed as a partner in 2002.
Anton started his career in tax in 1990 at the Receiver of Revenue in Cape Town, where he gained valuable experience in Value Added Tax and later Corporate Tax. He joined the firm in November 1996. He was instrumental in the development and expansion of the taxation services offering at BDO Cape Town, where he grew the tax department from a staff complement of 3 to 17 prior to the merger with Grant Thornton in 2011.
Anton is currently a partner at BDO Cape Town and Head of Taxation Services, following the merger between BDO South Africa and Grant Thornton Cape Town in March 2018.
Anton has been involved in numerous significant transactions, due diligence assignments, tax structuring of major acquisitions and mergers and high level structuring of inward investments. Anton focuses on a broad spectrum and his specialist areas include Corporate Tax, Value Added Tax, Employees’ Tax, Capital Gains Tax, International and Cross-Border Taxation, Trust Taxation and Corporate Restructure Relief.
His understanding of commercial transactions, legal and legal and accounting issues, is a significant added benefit to his specialist tax expertise. This, together with his practical approach to problem-solving adds substantial value to clients.
