Experience

Prelini has 17 years of experience in the financial services industry, both in professional services and in the banking industry. She has external audit experience with the clients noted above, has held internal roles, worked in industry, managed people, and managed operational elements of a professional services business. Within professional services and in addition to working at BDO, she has worked at 2 of the Big 4 assurance firms across various countries, including South Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the EU via her EMEIA Financial Services IFRS role, based in the Netherlands.

She provided subject matter expert (SME) support on the interaction between the European Central Bank’s (ECB’s) methodologies and IFRS practices, for various banks within scope for ECB asset quality reviews. Prelini was the SME supporting EMEIA banking audit teams on IFRS queries. She also performed IFRS financial statements reviews of several banks, including ING, Nomura Europe Finance, Bank Mendes Gans and Yapi Kredi.

Prelini has held audit quality and performance leader roles. The audit quality role entailed developing methodology and workflows to improve audit quality. The performance leader role entailed managing an audit department of 85 people and working with the Head of Department, Head of Performance and Operations and other Performance leaders to drive improved commercial and client performance, by creating highly engaged teams and developing top talent.

Prelini’s industry experience was with Nedbank CIB-Investment bank as the Investment Banking financial manager. She was a member of the Finance Management Committee (MANCO), comprising of the Nedbank CIB CFO, business unit Finance Directors and business unit Financial Managers. MANCO responsibilities included: finance strategy implementation, finance team communications, and business unit communications.

At BDO, in addition to external audit responsibilities, Prelini has been leading the accreditation of digital tools being developed by the Financial Services team.
