Head of Individual and Expatriate Tax

Shohana previously worked at BDO as an Associate Director, headed the Expatriate Tax Services Division, and now returns to BDO and the Tax division (effective 1 August 2016) as Director and Head of Individual and Expatriate Taxes. Shohana joins us after spending a number of years with two of our larger competitors where she was an Associate Director in the Global Mobility & Employment Tax Advisory Services Division.

Shohana’s responsibilities included the day to day management of cross border employees’ tax advisory services, including planning and leading engagement teams in the expatriate tax compliance space. She also consults extensively with regard to managing mobility in Africa together with local employment tax and has gained experience in the internal audit environment dealing with employment tax risk based reviews.

Qualifications and designations

  • UNISA short-learning course ‘Programme in Taxation (A Strategic Approach)
  • Passed the Partner Assessment Centre at KPMG
  • Finalising her LLB at UNISA this year


She has experience in various sectors, including Automotive, Financial Services, Banking, Mining, Engineering and State-owned companies. She regularly publishes articles, has had TV appearances and presents seminars on tax technical matters.
