Ian completed his articles at Welby Steward, a founding firm of BDO Spencer Steward whilst completing night studies at the University of Cape Town. After a secondment with BDO Binder Hamlyn in London and overseas travel, he returned to Cape Town. Ian became a partner in 1990 and became managing partner in 1999.

Ian enjoys adding value and assisting clients to improve their businesses and processes. He has vast experience in start-ups, property, franchises, manufacturing, farming and hospitality. He has served as a director and trustee on a number of boards and is known for his hands-on practical advice, and problem-solving abilities.

Ian’s role as Managing Partner requires him to serve on the Executive Committee of the Firm and he also takes an active interest in marketing and business development.

In his spare time Ian is an active property investor and has interests in classic cars, classic motorcycles, art, antiques, reading and travel.
